| Academy of Golf Art Exhibition to be Held in Ohio
May 2, 2005
COLUMBUS, OHIO--
The Academy of Golf Art has announced its first annual Juried Exhibition which will be held at The Jack Nicklaus Museum in Columbus. The exhibition dates are June 1 - July 30, 2005.
This prestigious exhibition coincides with two of golf's great events: the PGA Tour's Memorial Tournament (June 2-5) in Columbus and the Champions Tour U.S. Senior Open (July 28-31) in nearby Kettering, Ohio. It will open with a public reception on June 1 from 6-9 pm at the Nicklaus Museum and will include original works of art, photography and sculpture by Academy members and guest artists. A silent auction will be held during the reception featuring artwork donated by the artists with all proceeds going to the Nicklaus Museum.
"To be associated with Mr. Nicklaus, who is himself a great collector of fine golf art and with his wonderful tournament, is quite a coup for our inaugural event," said world-renowned golf landscape artist Linda Hartough, the Academy's Artistic Committee Chairman. "The location and timing of our exhibition is very exciting for our members."
In addition to Hartough, original works will be on display from founding Academy members Richard Chorley, Dick Durrance II, Dom Furore, Mike Klemme, Larry Lambrecht, Brad Pearson, Noble Powell III, and Bernard Willington.
The Exhibition will also include the golf art of Philip J. Barber, Leslie B. DeMille, Jim Fitzpatrick, William Grandison, Michelle Jamieson, Robert Knight, Ken Kozlowski, Pepii K., Shuichi Kuga, George T. Lawrence, Kenneth Reed, Guy Salvato, Diane Selby, Donald M. Shearer, Bill Waugh, Bill Williams, Aidan Bradley, Matthew Harris, Steve Heit, Peter Wong, Malcolm DeMille, and Walt Spitzmiller.
Works will be offered for sale at the Exhibition and can be viewed via the Academy website at www. AcademyOfGolfArt.org. The Nicklaus Museum is located at 2355 Olentangy River Road in Columbus.
The Academy of Golf Art was founded in 2003 to create an awareness and appreciation for golf art as a valuable segment of fine art, which expresses the game of golf and preserves the game's traditions. Mark H. King, Academy Board Chairman, is pleased about the upcoming exhibit.
"Having a two month exhibition is a tribute to the quality of works provided by these professionals," King said. "This is a great opportunity to further enhance a personal collection and certainly view this excellent exhibition. We do hope that golf fans and golf art lovers will use these two great golfing events in Ohio to visit the Nicklaus Museum and meet our artists."
